BFPD received a grant from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) for over $100,000 for hose, nozzles, and appliances.  The grant will be used to replace supply hose with a larger size, aging fire attack hose, nozzles, firefighting appliances, and equipment. This grant will allow the services we provide to citizens and neighbors of the District to be enhanced and keep our firefighters safe!  The District is required to match 10% of the funds during the performance of the grant.

BFD hosted training on October 1, 2010 from Gett-Webb Fire Training & Consulting on Building Construction: A Firefighters Perspective sponsored by the Greene County Regional Training Association.  The course teaches firefighters about building construction to keep safe and how it affects firefighting operations.  The classes give firefighters tools in relation to fire behavior and building construction.

The Battlefield Fire District will visit your business, school, daycare, residential facility or church for a fire safety education opportunity.  Trying a new plan when an emergnecy occurs is not the best way to be prepared.  Knowing what to do in an emergency and what to expect when an actual emergency occurs is invaluable.

• Should you evacuate if the fire alarm goes off?
