Firefighter Recruitment

The Battlefield Fire Protection District is an equal opportunity employer. The position of firefighter includes the following salary and benefits: Starting salary:
  • Firefighter Base Salary- $45,000 $48,011/year (average after 3 Years)
Educational/Certification Incentives apply upon completion of one year of service with the district:
  • Associate Degree – $1,500
  • Bachelor’s degree – $2,000
  • Master’s Degree – $2,500
  • Approved NFPA Certifications not required within job description – $250 for each
  • Certifications are accumulative and are added to base salary.
Insurance:
  • Employee Health, Dental and Vision are 100% covered with medical service from Mercy or Cox Health.
  • Dependent Health, Dental and Vision are available at employee expense through group plan.
  • Accidental Death and Dismemberment policy through FFAM
  • Short Term Disability through The Standard
  • Flexible Spending account through TASC
Retirement:
  • Lagers level L6 non-contributory.
  • Additional 457-B available for payroll deduction.
Leave:
  • Vacation leave available after first 6 months of employment
  • Employees accrue 14 hours per month for the first two years.
  • Accrual rates increase during your tenure with the District.
  • Sick Leave available once accrued
  • Employees accrue 12 hours per month
  • Leave hours have additional bank opportunities for annual time unused.
Uniform Incentive:
  • $200 is added to each employee’s annual salary for uniform expenses outside of items provide.
Social Security:
  • The District is an “opt-out” organization for Social Security contributions. No SSA taxation will be assessed to your salary.
