 The Battlefield Fire Protection District is conducting an EMT-B Course beginning on February 5, 2009. The classes will be held at the Battlefield Fire and Rescue Training Center, 4117 W. Second Street, in Battlefield, Missouri. The course will be delivered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings of each week from 1800 hours until 2200 hours. Tuition is $600.00 for anyone wishing to take the course and $550.00 for active firefighters or police officers with any department. A deposit of $100.00 is required at the time of application to hold the seat. The deadline for registration is January 20, 2009, with only fifteen students allowed in the class. It will be first come, first serve seating. Tuition pays for all books and final practical exam and must be paid in full at the time of registration. The only additional cost for students will be the National Register’s Written Exam. On January 14, 2009 the Battlefield Fire Protection District opened its third staffed station within the district. The station is located at 3490 W. Beechwood on the southwest corner of Springfield, Missouri. An open house is planned for Saturday, January 31, at 10:00 p.m. The district will be hiring three more firefighters in the next few weeks which will bring our firefighting staff to 28.

The Battlefield Fire Protection District is located just southwest of Springfield, Missouri.  The   District covers approximately 32 square miles of mostly residential housing.  We maintain a fleet of three frontline KME pumpers as well as two additional engines, two tankers, one heavy and one light rescue.  Battlefield Fire has responded to more than 1400 calls in 2007.  We have two stations that are manned 24/7 and are preparing to bring a third station online in late 2008 or early 2009.  The District has a state of the art training center and is recognized by the state as a certified training facility.  In 2007, we held our

first two EMT-B classes.
